Yes, You Can Do Something To Help Elect Responsive and Trustworthy Officials
Democrats in St. Lucie County are aghast at what has been going on in Tallahassee and Washington (thwarting reasonable gun safety regulations, attacks on reproductive rights, book bannings, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and legislation, the radical gerrymandering of congressional districts, hostility to COVID vaccines and other critical health initiatives, Ron DeSantis's appointments of an incompetent and dangerous surgeon general and secretary of state, etc., etc.). It is obvious that the only way to turn back abhorrent Republican policies is to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this fall. And if you're fired up about doing something to make that happen, we'd love to have your help!
The St. Lucie County Democrats are looking for volunteer help in a number of areas as we gear up for the 2022 elections (training in all areas):
CANVASSING BOARD OBSERVERS: Individuals to attend the St. Lucie County Canvassing Board meetings to observe and report issues to designated Democratic Party officials. Florida licensed attorneys are especially needed (but that is not a requirement). Canvass Board meetings begin once ballots are processed and continue through Election Day. (contact Krista Storey at: kristastorey831@gmail.com)
COMMUNITY CANVASS LEADERS: Individuals who will coordinate our canvassing efforts in communities across the county. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
COMMUNITY EVENTS TEAM: This team will compile a list of community events from now through Election Day where the Democratic Party and our candidates should have a presence. The team will also set up and tear down our booth at such events, and keep track of the volunteers who sign up to staff the booth. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
DATA ENTRY TEAM: This team will help enter important data into our voter database, MailChimp, and calendar. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
OFFICE MANAGER(S): Individual(s) to schedule volunteers to staff the Democratic Party office in Port St. Lucie and order supplies. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
OFFICE STAFF: We are looking for volunteers to staff the Democratic Party office in Port St. Lucie for 3-4 hour shifts during the week between the hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m. This group will keep the office open and ensure it is clean and well-stocked. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
POLL OBSERVERS: You will be stationed beyond the 150' "no-contact zone" outside polling locations to report issues including voter suppression and intimidation, and assist those who have been unable to vote. Needed for Early Voting and Election Days. (Krista Storey at: kristastorey831@gmail.com)
POLL WATCHERS: Registered voters in St. Lucie County who will be credentialed by the Supervisor of Elections to observe the election process inside the polling room and report any issues to Democratic Party representatives. Needed for Early Voting and Election Days. (Krista Storey at: kristastorey831@gmail.com)
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR(S): Individual(s) to triage new volunteers, and schedule and manage volunteers at Early Voting and Election Day polling places. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
VOTER REGISTRATION: Individuals to register voters at events throughout the county. One-on-one training. (call Debby Bowersock at: 561-632-3281)
YARD SIGN TEAM: This team will deliver yard signs to voters, place yard signs around the county in areas where they are allowed to be placed legally, and keep track of where they are placed for removal after Election Day. Yard signs will also be placed at polling locations for Early Voting and Election Day. (Falon Lofley at: chairdecslc@gmail.com)
